Today, we had a fun visit from Asai sensei, who brought huge clumps of clay!
Rockin’ Horse and Trike students loved digging their fingers into the interesting substance: rolling balls, creating monsters, and fashioning structures, and all sorts of shapes small and large. Snowmen and balls of various shapes and sizes were the favorites, but the imaginations of all the students allowed the children to progress to more complicated scenes with accompanying stories.
Meanwhile, UC and Bike students learned how to create their own tea bowls, which can be fired and used for soup, rice, or anything they wish! We were all very proud of their fine motor skills as well as their patience and perserverence throughout this very important and fun activity. Along the way, many interesting questions and conversations about bowls and pottery ensued, culminating into an item that everyone felt to be a grand accomplishment!
