Goals and Philosophy
To Respect Each Child
We strive to respect each child’s individuality and uniqueness. Each child has different wants, needs, and ways of expressing themselves and our experience has taught us that children in an international setting display a wonderful ability to encompass and embrace the differences in each other.
We encourage this form of mutual admiration. We also aim to provide an atmosphere of respect between parents, staff and children.
Personalized Programs
Many combined years of teaching in an international school setting have resulted in the development of highly successful personalized programs for our students. Children at PAL enjoy a variety of activities which are physically, mentally, and artistically stimulating.
Cross Cultural Experience
The international flavor of Tokyo enables us, as well as our children, to experience friendships with people from all over the world. Each culture represented in our school brings with it many extraordinary possibilities which we actively explore, enjoy and incorporate into our programs.
Personal Attention
PAL’s students enjoy using a variety of materials, have plenty of space to roam, are taught by quality teachers and are given enough time to explore the wonderful world of imagination. We provide a warm, secure and caring environment which aims to meet the individual needs of your child. Our low student/teacher ratio enables us to provide the highest level of individualized care for your child.
Areas of Child Development
Every class develops their curriculum from observing children over these developmental areas. From our daily observations, we select activities and develop goals for each child and for the class as a whole. Our monthly themes are set, but the activities change monthly depending upon how children are growing. We write the curriculum for each child.
Intellectual
The desire to learn is a natural feeling. Throughout the day, children receive intellectual stimulation by having access to an array of educational materials and activities chosen with care by our dedicated teachers.
Physical
During the day we engage in diverse activities that enhance the development of both fine and gross motor skills. We use gym equipment including a vaulting horse, balance beam and horizontal bar. We go to the park everyday, weather permitting.
Emotional
At PAL International School, children interact with each other in an atmosphere that allows them to express a full range of emotions. This is essential for developing every child’s future emotional well-being.
Cultural
By learning together, the children and teachers from different countries can enjoy and understand each other’s cultural uniqueness. Children also experience Japanese culture through songs, crafts, cooking etc. to take advantage of their stay in Japan.
Social
Interacting in a group is essential in building firm social skills. During our organized ‘Choice Time’, children are encouraged to communicate and express their feelings.
